Glass Beach, California

For this feature the place was called "Glass Beach". His story begins in the XX century, when residents of a nearby city began to throw household waste on the beach - old household appliances, cars, glass. Local residents considered this place a dump.

But in 1967 the city authorities closed the beach. After that, for a long time, various cleaning programs were conducted to correct the damage to nature. And for the next few decades, the waves polished the shards of glass that remained on the shore, turning them into small colored stones.

Today the beach, strewn with thousands of colorful "glass", belongs to the national park  MacKerricher and is a popular tourist attraction in the city.
